Product Review (submitted on September 1, 2009):
So, so cool. Yamaha went overtime doing the programming for this one. Every subtle little nuance that the Rhodes could ever produce will come through with this library, Touch, aftertouch, crappy-cool analog distortions, weird little sub-tones from the tines, different surfaces that were added to the hammers (felt, laquer, neoprene) are all included. Ultimately, a lot of the patches sound pretty similar because the Rhodes was an analog instrument. But Yahama's programming carefully reproduces just about every variation one could derive from the original instrument. The tones are extremely faithful reproductions rather than merely passable copies. If you pine for the old days, from Rod Stewart and Faces (one of the patches is "Faces!). Steely Dan, Chick Corea/Return To Forever, Supertramp and more, this is the library for you. The cherry on the cake is more patches, some really good minimoog stuff, a BITCHIN' Taurus bass, some Wurli's, a few Oberheims and Jupiter 8's, a little DX7 & CP80 and a few REALLY usable Hohner clavinets, all very faithfully reproduced.
Toss in the fact that you can load the voices into Performance mode and edit just like any other voice. This library is worth way more than what I paid for it.
I'm using it on my humble MO 6. It's really fulfilled my longing for vintage e-piano sounds.
Way ta go, Yamaha, U guys rock.
