“Renaissance Folk Instruments” is a collection of 64 voices for Celtic, Baroque, Folk, American Appalachian, Bluegrass, and Old World ethnic music. It includes shimmering hammered dulcimers, mountain dulcimers, stringed harps, two beautiful Italian harpsichords (with keyoff effects) a new full-bodied stereo nylon guitar, and a new multilayered stereo banjo. Also present are solo stringed instruments (violin, viola, cello), zithers, mandolins (plucked and double-picked), sitars, dobro, oud, bouzouki, kanoun, flutes and pipes, and an assortment of rhythm section instruments such as guitarron (large nylon bass guitar), washtub bass, jug, washboard, castanets, stomps and claps – even a joos harp! Multiple configurations for many instruments are provided, including tunable drone strings for the sitars and oud, as well as instructions for converting certain instruments to alternate tunings.
