What can I say but a true MASTER CLASS DVD !!! Tony Escueta and Phil Clendeninn are the MASTERS !!! You have opened up my MOTIFS XS&XF to a new user world.. This DVD is a great resource! I found it extremely useful for "hands on" instruction for recording, voice editing and working with effects. All 3 of the featured instructors are top-notch educators who explain various functions of the XS clearly, with useful information that you can't find in the manual. For example, "Here's what a compressor is. This is what it's used for. This is why it's used. And finally, here's how to operate the compressor on the XS."
I found it extremely helpful to watch the instructor create a Pattern from scratch and learn a "real world" work flow for building a song. Yes, I know the XS can perform a seemingly limitless amount of creative recording techniques, but what I want to know is how to jump in and get creative right away. This DVD teaches you that.
Similarly, it was useful to learn how to develop and edit Voices in a manner that was easy to understand. "I want the guitar sound to do this. Here's how to do that." Along the way you learn the framework of how Voices work and how to create or modify them.
This DVD doesn't show you how to use every single button on the XS, but you learn basic concepts about how to get where you're going. Now that I have a clearer understanding, I can get started being creative and refer back to this DVD when I forget how to perform a function . . .or just need some inspiration!
